Madison

Condition: Unbalanced Atrioventricular Canal Defect

Hometown:

Meet Madison, a 3-year-old superhero who has inspired us all.

Madison’s heart story began early. She was diagnosed with an unbalanced atrioventricular canal defect at just 20 weeks in the womb.

At seven days old, Madison underwent her first heart surgery, followed by another at 10 weeks. She received a lifesaving heart transplant when she was seven months old.

Her days now revolve around feeding therapy, physical therapy and countless doctor’s appointments with various specialists. She’s a true fighter.

Madison’s heart is filled with love, not only for her family, but also for the world around her. She adores watching “Cocomelon” and “Blippi” on TV, finds joy in being outdoors and playing on swings, and most of all, she’s an avid admirer of her older brother, Parker.

As Madison’s journey unfolded, the team at Norton Children’s has been by her side. Madison’s family loves her pulmonologist, Scott G. Bickel, M.D., and the incredible nurses for their compassionate care.
